Shimmer and Sparkles: Met Gala 2012

Belle's Ralph Lauren dress was simple, but the dark gothy lips really made it for me.
 Loved THE CAPE!
Gisele is stunning in Givenchy as always
Who doesn't love a good headpiece? Kurkova in Rachel Zoe
Loved! And Dree's dress is from Topshop!
I mostly just thought this dress was too scandelous not to post

Ah Gywneth was my absolute favorite. KILLED IT in her daring white shimmery mini by Prada.
I want it!

So I went blue...

After countless days of pining over the luscious pastel locks (just in time for easter I might add) on Pinterest, Tumblr, my Nylon magazine... it seems to be obvious. I needed to dye my hair blue. Nothing dramatic... I just wanted the tips, and I wished they'd fade to a nice baby periwinkle and stay like that for a while. Here are the pictures I collected.

Don't worry, you are encouraged to drool as I did:

Free people mag preview (I'm obsessed with you......... too much......)

 From the Nylon pastel spread

And here is the result! I used Splat! dye that I bought for about $10 at CVS if you want to give it ago. I knew I wanted blue, pink is too girly for moi. Anyways this is day 1 and the dye proceeded to wash out severely by day 2 and by day 5 there were no traces left. My advice is to keep the dye (and bleach) in MUCH longer than the box says.
It was a fun run, I just wish it had lasted longer. But now I am more open to experiment with my hair.
What's next?

Which Girl Are You?

So you all know that I'm obsessed with Free People.... No Surprise there! Now I have a new obsession however, WILDFOX! Yes, it is more expensive, but equally inspirational for daily outfit inspiration.

One thing that both companies have done which I love is to create different "girls" to identify with. Each girl has their own style. It is endlessly entertaining (well... for me) to play the game, "If I had to be one, I'd be..." with them. Although each day it probably changes for me.

Anyways here are the personas from Free People:
Lou: the tomboy.
"She grew up building dams in rivers and climbing trees. She's adventurous and not afraid of the outdoors. Lou is our guy's girl, a tomboy with a feminine side who can be sexy without losing her rock n' roll edge."
Ginger: the sexy one.
"She's aware of her beauty and embraces a sexy style. Ginger is the party girl who always seems to find herself with an occaision to dress up, put on some heels, and flutter her lashes."
Meadow: the bohemian.

"She's a dreamer, a soul searcher and a wanderer. Medow is our bohemian girl who wears loose, flowing tops and dresses that catch the breeze as she roams the earth in search of inspiration.
Candy: the girly girl.
"She's pretty and intruiged by intricate detail. Lace, crochets and fairytale fabrics are aesthetics that make up her wardrobe. She loves vintage and anything that looks like it belongs in an English tea house."
and newly added... Molly! the quirky one.
"Molly has that classic retro look. She's preppy and sophisticated but in a cool modern way. Her clothes have details such as tipping and pleating and she loves the Peter Pan collar like no other."

From the Feb. catalog--here is the video on each girl.

The three magical girls from Wildfox are...

Dahlia

Cherie

and Ella

I thouroughly enjoyed reading the stories and taking in all of the beautiful images. Wildfox is one of those companies where every photo is so unbelievably cool and beautiful. Everytime I visit I end up pinning 99% of them them to my Pinterest or dragging them to my desktop to clog up my hard drive.

Which girls are you??? I simply cannot choose.

"Even Anna Wintour cracked a smile" Burberry Prorsom Fall 2012

"Any woman who loves fashion loves Burberry"

For the finale, Christopher Bailey created a fuss with loud crashes of thunder followed by a beautiful downpour of faux rain at London Fashion Week to remind us all to grab our Burberry trenches when the weather permits.
The effect reportedly stole the show, and even made Anna Wintour crack a smile. The show was innovative, advanced, and showed how far Burberry has come and what is in store in the future.
Also my new favorite girl, Cara, was the final walker! Such a stunner.

The video is simply beautiful! I don't know what else to say. So inspired.

I'm such a blogger.....

One day in my Drawing/Painting 1 class, a nice girl came up to me and asked me if she could take pictures of my outfits for her blog. Her name is Minkyung Sung and is a very talented photographer. She asked me some questions and would take pics of me after art class.

I was unbelievably flattered and she insisted that I put the pictures up on my own fashion blog. Although I do think the process of posting pictures of yourself is rather narcissistic, it is nice to have a few pictures of myself to prove I don't go around wearing Uggs and sweatpants everyday.
So enjoy, I know I'm awkward in front of the camera, but it was a fun project.

Hopefully there are more to come!

I'm wearing
Brandy and Melville top, vintage Arizona cut-off shorts, and Deena and Ozzy oxfords.

Left: Heart print romper from H&M with a cropped Cheap Monday sweater draped behind my back.
Right: J Crew ruffled shirt (as a dress), American Apparel black circle scarf, and H&M green parka jacket.

Printed tee from H&M, leather jacket from Shipley and Halmos.

Lunarglide Wingtip

So anyone who knows me, knows that I love Nike.
It's Portland. It's cool AND athletic. It's simply the best.
Naturally, I was excited when they joined up with Cole Haan, Converse, and Hurley.

Finally the companies have combined their styles and literally made a perfect hybrid shoe that is equal parts Cole Haan and Nike: The Lunarglide Wingtip.

The shoe combines the classic wingtip of Cole Haan and added in the light, springy sole of the Lunarlon series for a modern spin on the old style.

I love all the colors they come in, and want to buy them for all the men in my life ASAP.

Navy

Tan

And my personal favorite, the grey with neon sole. And to all of you who know the boyfriend... I maintain the claim that if Alex were to die and come back to life in shoe form, this would be it.

Can't wait to see what the Cole Haan - Nike team has in store next.

Infidele....

Sorry readers! I have been cheating on you.
I started flirting with Tumblr and now we are in a full blown relationship. I'm still working on perfecting the art, it is quite different than blogging on blogspot. But anyways, check it out here:
@ calleyfornia.tumblr.com
I like being able to add quotes, songs, and pictures. And following people reminds me of twitter! Anyways, I think I will still be posting a few things on here, but I feel guilty about leaving homebase. So I will keep this going as well as I can. I like to think of tumblr as more pithy and short, where as this is more like an article or explanation, but really it goes both ways.
I'll try to be as balanced as possible.

I have also been using Pinterest to help collect photos in one place instead of overfilling my hard drive with pretty pictures of fur and Kate Moss. My boards include
Hot Boys, Style, Girl Crush, Art, Cute, Coolness, Shoe Envy
and not surprisingly Girl Crush is the most full category...
Women are beautiful I can't help it!
